orite, best way to shop is know what you want first before you go out to market. Identify the features that are compulsory and features that are "nice to have".
Ask around your colleagues or mates who look after their cars to see what brands they went with and why - just like ur doing here.
Keep those questions coming on here, bro, we're learning as well! |

Greenline is ok, they have an agent who communicate with you via email with all the questions answered. The site isn't as user friendly as nengun because all cost are in Yen and does not include shipping. The currency converter is not accurate because they don't follow that rate in the process (apparently there are extra fees that needs to be paid so that gets forward onto our bill). Shipping insurance cost extra, which is fair. Shipping is super quick tho, item arrived from japan 5 working days after payment is made. Overall i'm happy with greenline. _________________ 地獄黑仔王 |

I got my order from Nengun approximately 2 weeks after i paid for it. Aside from their payment system, the follow through service was quite good. got email replies and shipping status. _________________ Dark quiet road....... |

|
|
Hey all,
Been researching car alarms recently, has anyone got any idea as to how Mongoose range of alarms fair?
Looked through Viper, Rhino, Python and Autowatch. Still think Mongoose 80G with Mongoose VT401 GSM Vehicle GPS Tracker. Just wondering if anyone has had a good experience.
Also after the Eclipse AVN4400 Stereo / GPS, if someone can recommend a place.
Hoping to do all of the above at the same place to save labour. Heard that Mongoose hasn't released a new product for a while, so possibly outdated?
Cheers |

Finally got a quote from Big Brother Security in Belmont for the Mongoose M80G and GPS Tracking Device.
550 installed for the M80G
650 installed for the GPS
$45 for new wiring harness
Which isn't too bad compared to the prices seen on ebay. $200 for the M80G alarm and $500 for the GPS tracking without installation. A bit pricey due to the GSM / GPS tracking I want installed.
Labour if I was providing the parts would be 4-5 hours at $88 per/hr. For the $50-$150 difference in getting the parts from ebay + install. I'd rather stick with the security company and get local warranty for the product.
Will post how things go with the alarm system. A bit $$$ but it's one of the best alarms out there. Will try to get the stereo installed too, unless I can get it installed free from Alberts. |

Ok got my alarm done by Big Bro security.
There was a hiccup regarding the alarm sent out, I asked for the M80G but Mongoose sent the MAP80G (Upgrade kit that piggy backs off stock remotes) which has no remotes. I specifically wanted remotes coz my built-in key central locking seldom worked when pressed.
In light of the mistake by Mongoose, Brian recommended the Autowatch 446RLI Premium, which was the alarm I was looking at before deciding on Mongoose for the GPS. To my surprise the Mongoose GPS hooks up to any alarm, I had always thought it was specific to the Mongoose range of alarms.
PROS:
- Got the Autowatch 446RLI Alarm (Very nice alarm compared to the Mongoose M80G) for the "same" price, from Alberts it is $599 installed, so I got it for the price Mongoose was quoted at $550
- Got rid of all the clutter and accessories lying around in my car without extra labour charge
CONS:
- Ended up costing me $1291, due to a credit card transaction fee, 3.3% I did ask whether credit card was ok before booking the install, so the surcharge came as a surprise and is a bit steep considering I asked first, not really pleased since there was no mention at time of booking or anywhere in the store when physically there.
- Didn't configure the built-in turbo timer, although I didn't clearly specify this and assumed it'd be done since I was getting my old turbo timer ripped out
- Kept all the accessories I got him to rip out, junk anyway, but expected the option to keep it all
Will be getting my stereo installed with them since I need some adjustments made to the alarm, mainly the turbo timer configuration. Should be getting a hidden amplified radio antenna so hopefully can get him to rip out my broken motorized aerial as part of the job.
All in all I'm happy with the alarm and GPS features. Being SMSed when your alarm goes off is great, also being sent co-ordinates in the event that your car goes missing is a cheaper alternative to the GPS Tracking subscription services that come with other alarms. Due to the tracking ability, I save on the premium for my car insurance, so the $$$ for the GPS will be covered in time. |

| Just a follow up regarding the electrics work from Big Bro Security. Ended up going back to get the turbo timer setup. Brian hooked up the turbo timer, which needed a relay so that the radiator fans kept running whilst the engine was on, otherwise engine would be left on with no fans :O. Wired up the stealth antenna as previously mentioned. Configured the alarm to self arm if left unattended, and only lock when manually armed by remote, will never have keys locked in car ever again!! All at no extra cost from the initial job. Great guy, and very competitive rates. Lifetime warranty on install. Car security is perfectly configured, happy as can be, definitely recommend. He also demoed an all in one touch screen unit for the stereo, definitely considering getting it installed minus the reverse camera option. GPS, VCD, DVD, MP3, you name it, it does it. Not sure what the model / brand was, but will ask when I get enough dosh to consider. |
